IdentifierUMA-SRE-20080028Extent8 VolumesLinear Meterage0.43Scope and ContentThe Buildings and Facilities Development Committee met for the first time in May 1983 and was formed with the purpose of managing the development of infrastructure and facilities at all the VCAH campuses. The VCAH Council gave the Committee the following powers and responsibilities: - in consultation with the Director, forecast the capital development of the College campuses, ensuring that it relates to existing activities and objectives as approved by Council and the projected needs of the community served by the College; and that appropriate and timely bids are placed upon government for fund allocation; - to advise Council on all questions relating to the purchase, lease and erection of buildings, and the acquisition of land; - to advise upon the appointment of architects and other professional consultants relating to the capital development of the College; - to examine and approve sketch designs and cost estimates of capital development programs; - to recommend to Council all tenders and contracts related to capital works which are outside the delegation of the Director; - to invite any member of the College staff, student body or any other person to attend its meetings for any particular agenda item. The papers refer to capital programmes; building plans; proposed renovations to the campuses including the building of workshops; gardens management; storage and safety; the building and maintenance of residences; master plans and accounting procedures. Membership of the Committee was comprised of: - ex officio members - President and Vice President of Council, Director, Business Manager (subject to approval of the Council); - sufficient members of Council as are deemed necessary by Council; - one member of the Senior Staff Committee who shall be at Head of Campus level.
