IdentifierUMA-SRE-20080024Extent7 volumesLinear Meterage0.32Scope and ContentThe VCAH Council gave the Staff Committee the following powers and responsibilities: - to investigate and recommend for the determination of Council, appropriate conditions of service; - to recommend to Council appointment to positions of the level of Head of Campus and above; - to review annually the notional establishment and to recommend to Council on the overall numbers of staff to support the approved activities and objectives; - to consider, keep under review and make recommendations to Council on matters relating to salary scales in respect to all position classifications in the College; - when requested by the Director, to deal with complaints or problems from individual members of staff arising from the application of the conditions of service; - to negotiate and settle industrial disputes; - to invite any member of the College staff, student body or any other person to attend its meetings for any particular agenda item. Other activities under the Committee's purview included staff induction procedures; equal opportunity procedures and an affirmative action plan. The papers include reference to the above, along with salary information, award restructuring; affirmative action grants; the role and delegation of the Director of the VCAH; Occupational Health and Safety and related policies for the control of Hepatitis and AIDS/HIV; smoking policy. Membership of the Committee was comprised of: - ex officio members - President and Vice President of Council, Director and Manager - Administrative Services (subject to the approval of Council); - sufficient members of Council as are deemed necessary by the Council; - one member of the Academic Staff; - one member of the General Staff; - Personnel Manager (non-voting member); - one member of the Senior Staff Committee who shall be at Head of Campus Level.
