IdentifierUMA-SRE-20130119Extent5 Units,Linear Meterage1Scope and ContentThis series is formed from a number of client focussed records created by the CWS and transferred to the RMIT Social Policy Archive prior to their subsequent transfer to the UMA. Originally, this series was broken into 7 series and during processing these were grouped together into this series due to their like function and information content. The series was taken from boxes numbered 159-160, 294-296 in the original RMIT SPA system. The Day Books record inquiries from and interviews with CWS clients by social workers, arranged in chronological order. These 'day books' offer in summary form examples of the day to day activities of CWS social workers. Previous reference numbers 69/1299-1308, 1354-1358. Diaries show the work patterns of CWS social workers, covering activities such as individual and group consultations, home visits, 'duty', married couples group, 'student support group', meetings and visits to Observatory Clinic. These appeared to be the only surviving diaries at the time of transfer to the archive. Previous reference numbers 82/1646-1648. The Short term contact client files include items 1690-1 and comprise two files labelled "short term contact" on the front and "did not come" on the side includes records of both clients with limited contact and those that made appointments but cancelled them or did not come. Client Information Sheets inside these files cover summary personal details, presenting problems, nature of help requested, contact and outcome. Item 1684 is "non dated", item 1685 is "short term". Previous reference numbers 83/1684-1685; 83/1690-1691. Records consists of a record book of "group records", ie for client’s group therapy or counselling including marriage guidance. Some loose typed pages inserted into the book. Previous reference number 84/1686. "ACL and Bristol Adjustment Guides: report forms for family counselling". Records consist of one item, a file labelled 'ACL & Bristol: Students Ret'. File contains data gathered according to the standard report forms titled 'The Child in the Family'. Previous reference number 85/1692. Records consist of file notes and correspondence relating to group therapy or counselling sessions conducted by CWS social workers. Some client case numbers are cited. Details of client attendance, progress and problems and summarised client information sheets are recorded. Previous reference numbers 86/1693-1695. This volume documents CWS 's activities as a charitable organisation in the 1930s-1940s. The handwritten entries record the client or code number, applicant's name and address, sureties' name and address, amount of cash required, purposes (for which it was) required and decision (request granted, lapsed or denied). The cover has no label and is very tattered and in fair condition.
