Weickhardt served on numerous scientific and advisory committees for both private and public entities throughout his life. His Board and committee work included the Duke of Edinburgh Study Conference; IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) Conferences; CSIRO Wool Research Committee; Australian Advisory Committee on the Environment; Australian Development Assistance Bureau Consultative Committee on Research for Development (CCRD); The Royal Melbourne Hospital Board; Melbourne Branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research; National Council of Independent Schools (NCIS); Camberwell Grammar School. Following his retirement from ICIANZ in 1970, Weickhardt's close association with industry was maintained by assuming directorships of companies, including Nylex Corporation and Sidney Cooke Limited, and chairing Rocla Industries Limited and the Australian Innovation Corporation Limited (AICL). AICL was a company established by Weickhardt in 1969 to promote Australian industry and innovation. Weickhardt’s representation was generally significant. He often had Chair or Directorship roles, annotated minutes and agendas, wrote letters and progressed projects.
