Accession[1992.0047] Papers of Essington LewisIdentifierUMA-ITE-1992004700001Scope and ContentPhotograph album with accompanying typescript account of trip prepared for EL by his sister (?) M. Munckton. Trip was from Adelaide to Oodnadatta by rail, motor car from there to Katherine, rail from Katherine to Darwin.
Album consists of 3" x 6" black and white prints with descriptive titles. Accompanying typescript discusses journey from Adelaide, and EL's observations concerning the Territory, mining prospects and the pastoral industry.
Album contains many photographs of Indigenous people, including children, involved in ceremonial activities as well as general daily life at the Hermannsberg Mission.
