Following the death of her husband, Mrs Ashdown moved to Australia in 1938 to live near her brother, William Tippetts. In Melbourne, Mrs Ashdown continued to present lectures on British costume, illustrated by models wearing reproduction costumes that she made. One such lecture was included in the Extension Program of the University. Emily Jessie Ashdown died in 1950.
