Agent TypeOrganisationHistoryThe University Act, 1923, provided for the establishment of a fund to be known as the University Students' Loan Fund to be administered by a Committee, the membership of which was specified in the Act but subject to changes by the University Council. Applicants had to satisfy the Committee that they were of "ability above the average" and unable to commence or continue a course without assistance. Advances might be made for payment of fees, purchase of books and apparatus or living expenses, or all three, with an upper limit of 100 pounds. Terms of repayment were to be arranged at the end of the course. (Statute first appearing as XXXV, Calendar 1925).
