The series consists of a bundle of envelopes containing correspondence in respect of the appointments of Agency Inspectors. National Mutual and Mutual Assurance Society of Victoria appointments are represented. These early inspectors covered a tremendous amount of the 'Colony' as some of the maps included in the envelope will show. Appointments appear to have been for one month initially then three months followed by six monthly appointments with one months notice of termination by either party. Inspectors used horse and buggy or the railways. Remuneration was by way of annual salary paid weekly or monthly. Business written by agents under control of inspectors was taken into consideration.
