After adventures with an unprincipled ‘guide and drayman’, they camped near the Woolshed gold field, by Beechworth. The reminiscences contain some descriptions of the Beechworth diggings, unrest, sly grogging, prices and the character of Mr M Myers, a cadet in charge of the Woolshed police.
